In the Classroom

As an art teacher, I will use interactive power point presentation to teach confusing concepts in art history or art terms. This will allow students to be actively involved in their learning. I can also create a web site or blog site for the classroom. On this site I can keep students, other teachers, and parents aware of what is going on in the classroom. I can post lesson plans made in dreamweaver which will show exactly what we will be doing and how the students will be graded in the classroom. We can also uses technology in the classroom as part of the art curriculum. Students could design their own business cards for a made up business. Students could also create brochures for their ultimate vacation spot. My students and I can incorporate technology in their art projects and my lessons plans.

Tech Insights

I am learning a lot of new things about power point that i didn't know. There is a lot more you can use this program for then just a slide lecture. Using a mac is no longer difficult for me. It feels normal to me. The information we learned about visual appearance is going to come in handy. I really enjoyed making the business cards and I will probably make them when i am in the field of education if not before. One of the most handy things i have learned is the hyper link. I use this a lot not if i want someone to look at a web page. Its so simple, but i had no idea how to use it. I think students could really benefit from the program that teacher could put together on power point to give them a different perspective at learning something.

Technology

I think technology is very important tool in the classroom. Teachers and teaching could benefit with the right technology. This could aid in further understanding of material because students would be presented with material in a new and different way. However, it could also hurt the classroom because some students do not know anything about computers and technology, which would make them even more confused. Some students know a lot about computers and the internet. Technology may be distracting for them or get into trouble because they are not paying attention in class or possibly looking at naughty sites.

I feel pretty comfortable using technology in my classroom. I am pretty up to date with powerpoint, photoshop, and accessing the internet. However, I feel that i don't always know everything that is available with this technology. I don't know all the shortcuts and websites that make things easier. I also don't know all the correct terminology. I think i have a pretty good understanding of technology compared to a lot of people. I also feel that young children have a very good understanding of technology. In some cases they are smarter than their teachers.
